When I was colouring this image my mind wandered back to my very early teens when I lived in the Old Kent Road in south London. There were hardly any clubs where girls could join in, it was mainly for boys. Our local church ran a club where we could go and chat and have a cup of coffee. It was run by a deaconess and we would often see her flying around on her old bike with basket on the front. She wore the veil but ordinary clothes, she would always have her sandals on, summer and winter but would wear thick grey stockings with them to keep her feet warm. She was such a sweet lady but her dress was definitely 'quirky' This card is dedicated to her and her unstinting kindness to teenage girls. The sentiment is from a song By the Kinks from 1966. coloured with Promarkers and paper from stash.
